The 8 healthcare checks are designed to help you and your doctor/nurse understand how to best manage your diabetes. Checks are performed every year, in order to understand your risk of developing health problems related to your diabetes.

This is an easy way to measure if you are over or underweight

Serum Creatinine

This is a blood test to measure how your kidneys are working

The kidneys regulate the amount of fluid and various salts in the body, helping to control blood pressure. They also release several hormones. A high level of serum creatinine can suggest kidney disease.

Urinary Albumin

This is a urine test to measure if you have protein in your urine

This is to check how your feet look and how well you can feel with them

As your diabetes progresses you may end up with damage to some of your small blood vessels and/or your nerves. Losing feeling and/or circulation in your feet will increase your risk of a foot ulcer.
